How long is a typical organizing session?
3-4 hours. However, I've been known to schedule 6 hour sessions for exceptionally large projects and/or special situations.
Can't I declutter and organize my home on my own?
Possibly, but will you make time to do it? If you hire me to assist you in getting organized, you'll be dedicating the time and resources to achieve your goals.
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
Organizing projects are charged by the hour. An additional travel fee may apply if you're located outside of Sonoma County.
How long will it take to complete my organizing project?
It depends greatly on the size of the room and the amount of clutter in the space, as well as how fast you are at making decisions (getting organized requires lots of decision making). Some projects take only one session and others take several sessions. Of course, the more focused you are and the more you do on your own in between sessions (sometimes 'homework' is given), the faster it will get done.
Also, it's best to schedule organizing sessions close together. It's important to keep the ball rolling so that you'll see big changes in a short amount of time.
What do I need to do to prepare for my organizing session?
Make a commitment and stick with it! If you have small children, make arrangements for someone else to watch them. Turn off your cell phone and close your email. Keep distractions to a minimum to make sure you get your moneys worth out of our time together.
Will you make me get rid of things I don't want to?
You are the ultimate decision maker. Of course, I will guide you in the decision making process. However, you will always get the final say in what stays and what goes.
I'm embarrassed about my mess. Should I tidy up before we meet?
No. I assure you, I have seen it all. I will be non-judgemental and supportive every step of the way.
Will I be required to purchase supplies?
I will have on hand a tool kit of organizing supplies that we will most likely need (i.e. post-it notes, labelmaker, trash bags, marking pens, ziplock bags, etc.). I like to use what's in your home first. If more supplies are needed then, yes, you will be responsible for going out and purchasing them. Of course, I'll be happy to provide suggestions of where to go and what to get.
Should I be concerned about confidentiality?
I completely respect your privacy! All of your personal information is safe with me. In fact, I will sign a Confidentiality Agreement included within the Service Agreement I'll provide you. I may take pictures of your project (with your permission, of course), however no names will be released and people will not be included in the photos.
What if I have to cancel my scheduled organizing session?
I kindly request a 48-hours' notice for all cancellations or a fee will apply.
What if I'm not happy with the results?
